Faculty Position – Clinician Scientist
Applications are invited from outstanding hematologists for a new Clinician Scientist faculty position, jointly appointed in the Terry Fox Laboratory (TFL) and the Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant Program (L/BMT) of the BC Cancer Agency (BCCA). The TFL is an academic research department representing an interdisciplinary and highly collaborative group with a mix of clinical and/or basic training expertise and a long track record in hematopoiesis and leukemia, immunology, technology development and genome control mechanisms. The L/BMT program is a FACT accredited stem cell transplantation program that currently transplants approximately 200 patients per year. The L/BMT provides care for autologous and allogeneic transplant recipients (including related, unrelated and cord blood transplants) and for acute leukemia patients in the Province of BC.
The preferred applicant shall have experience beyond Fellowship training and have expertise in both BMT and hematologic malignancies. In addition, the successful candidate should have a track record of research excellence and a keen interest in clinical and basic cancer research. With the support of the TFL and L/BMT program the applicant will be expected to establish a competitive research program (50% protected research time) that makes high quality contributions to hematological malignancies on an international stage, attracts peer reviewed funding and strengthens our excellent training environment. The new position is targeted preferentially (but not exclusively) at an early-stage career candidate whose research program will complement the present faculty and fit BCCA’s mission to reduce the incidence of cancer, to reduce the mortality rate of people with cancer, and to improve the quality of life of people living with cancer.
The successful applicant must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D., be eligible for licensure by the BC College of Physicians & Surgeons, and an appropriate academic appointment through the University of British Columbia. Interested candidates should send: 1) a curriculum vitae; 2) contact information for 3 references; and 3) a 2-3 page statement outlining the applicant’s clinical and research interests, achievements and future goals. Send all documents by PDF in one file to:
