As a scientist, the work of my laboratory has focused on non-coding RNAs, especially microRNAs (miRNAs) in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and normal hematopoiesis. As a physician, I specialized in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) in adults, where I developed a clinical interest in optimizing current treatment protocols such as conditioning regimens for HSCT.

Our current research is mainly translational and focuses on interactions between the stem cell niche and allogenic stem cell transplantation, mechanisms of leukemogenesis as well as innovative treatment strategies for multiple myeloma. We are driven to improve patients´ lives by addressing clinical “every day” challenges with state-of-the-art research including preclinical animal models and to translate our research into clinically applicable therapies.

We are looking for outstanding, motivated graduate students as well as postdoctoral fellows (full time or part time) who share our passion for medicine/science and want to make a difference for patients´ lives.

Our research is mainly translational and focuses on immunotherapies such as allogenic stem cell transplantation for acute myeloid leukemia. We are driven to improve patients' lives by addressing clinical “every day” challenges with state of the art research including preclinical animal models. Our goal is to translate our research into clinically applicable therapies. Scientific focuses are hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, hematopoietic stem cells physiology and pathophysiology as well as innovative treatment for Multiple Myeloma.
